Ew: Week 2: An Unlikely Queen
Esther 2:1–23
This week we continue the story of Esther and are reminded of an important truth: God is at work even when we cannot see Him.
Although God’s name is never mentioned in Esther 2, His providence is evident throughout the story. He is quietly directing circumstances, people, decisions, and even the ordinary details of life to accomplish His purposes.
Esther enters a difficult and unfamiliar world, the Persian king’s harem, where the women were placed in fierce competition for the king’s favour. Behind the luxury and beauty treatments was a reality that was far from glamorous. Yet, in the middle of these circumstances, God was positioning Esther for something greater.
Key lessons from this week:
God is working even when we cannot see His hand.
Our circumstances may not make sense, but God is still in control.
God can use ordinary people and ordinary situations to accomplish His purposes.
What looks like coincidence may be part of God’s providence.
Esther’s story reminds us to trust God even when His presence seems hidden.
Reflection:
Where might God be working quietly in your life right now, even though you cannot yet see the outcome?
“For we live by faith, not by sight.” – 2 Corinthians 5:7
