Prayer That Draws Us Near

This week, the youth explored a powerful truth: prayer as confession in light of our justification and our “standing in grace.”
In Romans 5:1–2, they were reminded that through faith in Christ, we have been justified and now stand in God’s grace. This means we no longer come to God in fear or shame, but with confidence knowing we are already accepted and loved.
The Closer series speaks directly into the realities students face every day. Life doesn’t slow down when stress, anxiety, or challenges arise. Instead of carrying these burdens alone, students are encouraged to turn to God first in prayer. Through honest, everyday conversations with Him, they are discovering that God truly cares and invites them to bring everything—worries, questions, and even their struggles with sin—into His presence.
The focus highlighted how confession is not about condemnation, but about freedom. Because of Jesus, we stand secure in grace. Prayer becomes a place of honesty, healing, and restoration, where we can openly confess and experience God’s mercy and peace.
We also reflected on the importance of relationships with God, with ourselves, and with others. As we learn to pray honestly and trust God more deeply, we grow in dependence on Him and in compassion toward those around us.
Our heart is that students would continue to run toward God in every season finding His peace, presence, and guidance right in the middle of life.
Memory Verse:"Is anyone among you in trouble? Let them pray. Is anyone happy? Let them sing songs of praise… The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective." — James 5:13–16
