This week in our Bible study, we concluded the Book of Book of Genesis with “The Deaths of Jacob and Joseph.” As we reflected on the lives of these two men, we were reminded that Genesis is not simply a story of endings, but also of new beginnings and God’s unfolding promises.
Through the journey of Jacob and Joseph, we saw God’s faithfulness, sovereignty, and grace even in difficult seasons. We discussed how God uses every circumstance trials, waiting seasons, reconciliation, and obedience to shape His people and fulfill His purpose.
Our discussion also explored why Jacob desired to be buried with his ancestors, yet did not insist that Rachel be moved to the family burial place. This opened a meaningful conversation about culture, traditions, and the way families honor their loved ones after death. We reflected on our own traditions of burying family members and how these customs carry deep love, remembrance, and respect across generations.
The study encouraged us to trust God fully, surrender our plans to Him, walk in forgiveness, and remain faithful even when we cannot see the full picture. Above all, we were reminded that God is always at work, fulfilling His promises in His perfect timing.
