Growing up, I was convinced tea had a special potion in it. Not just any potion the kind that could solve almost every problem!
Bad day? Drink tea. Difficult conversation coming? Have some tea. Feeling sick? Drink tea. Not sure what to do? Well… make another cup of tea!
As I grew older, I realised it wasn't actually the tea that had the magic potion. It was what happened when I stopped, sat down, became quiet, and took a moment to breathe. Somehow, things looked a little clearer after that cup of tea.
And it made me think: How much more could we gain by quieting our minds in the presence of God?
We live in a noisy world, and sometimes we bring that noise straight into our prayer time. But God invites us to stop, be still, and listen.
“Be still, and know that I am God.” — Psalm 46:10
Maybe we don't always need another answer, another plan, or another cup of tea. Sometimes we simply need to sit with God, quiet our hearts, and listen.
So, the next time you make yourself a cup of tea, let it be a little reminder: pause, breathe, be still and make room to hear what God may be saying.
