The One That Was Lost
This week was an interesting one for me. I lost a ring that has great sentimental value to me. I searched frantically for it from Monday through Thursday, looking everywhere I could think of. I had almost given up, but then I thought, “Let me check one more time.” And there it was—I found my ring!
Finding it reminded me of the parable of the lost sheep in Luke 15:4–7, where Jesus tells us about the shepherd who leaves the ninety-nine to go after the one that is lost.
It made me think about how precious one is to God. Just as I kept searching for something precious to me, Jesus seeks after those who are lost. He doesn’t overlook the one. He doesn’t give up.
We maybe able to understand a God who would forgive sinners who come to him for mercy. But a God who tenderly searches for sinners and the joyfully forgives them must possess an extraordinary love! This is the kind of love that promted Jesus to come to the earth to search for the lost people and save them. This is the kind of extraordinary love that God has for You.
If you feel lost, forgotten, or far from God, remember: you are never forgotten by Him. You are worth seeking.
